The DIS department is in charge of training international students in SPECIALIST DEGREE programmes:

  • GENERAL MEDICINE – 6 years;  
  • DENTISTRY – 5 years.  
  • PEDIATRICS – 5 years,  

Bachelor and Master degrees – Social Work, Public Health, Management, etc.

The postgraduate courses on most of specialties are also available to international students: 

  • INTERNSHIP (internatura) - 1 year, 
  • CLINICAL RESIDENCY (ordinatura) - 2 years, 
  • POSTGRADUATE PhD COURSES (aspirantura) - 3-4 years, 
  • DOCTORATE (doktorantura) - 3-4 years.

All postgraduate courses and programmes are delivered in Russian by the Institute of Professional Education (MAILTO:; WEB:  

International student community is subdivided into academic groups of seven to ten persons. The second-year medical students attend clinics where they practice nursing. Clinical subjects are taught from the third year of study. 

All First MSMU facilities are accessible for students throughout the course. 

Students fond of research activities are welcome to join scientific societies that work within all chairs of the University. This is the best way of sharpening professional expertise and research skills, which are essential along the course of the degree studies. 

Studies may be complemented with a variety of cultural entertainments and sports. These feature two students’ theatres and a stadium with full size football pitch, track-n-field facilities, tennis, badminton, volleyball grounds (both indoor and outdoor) and other sports amenities. 

For international students studying and living in Moscow is a kind of experience for keeps. This multimillion megacity founded in 1147 is the capital of the Russian Federation and one of the most prominent historical and cultural centres in Europe. 

Accommodation is arranged on a sharing basis (2-4 in a room) in three hostels. All apartments are well-equipped with all basic conveniences.
