The 10th Malaysian Intervarsity Games in Volgograd

Volg_01On 12-14th of April 2013, 96 students of First Moscow State Medical University (MSMU) were involved in the 10th Malaysian Intervarsity Games, held in the historic town of Volgograd. 10 different sport disciplines were organized, varying from frisbee, mini-football to rugby.

Sports festival was officiated by Dr, Vladimir Petrov, Rector of Volgograd State Medical University (the host institution) and Dato’ Zainol Abidin Omar, Ambassador of Malaysia in Russia.

The Games has been a success in the organizational view. Malaysians from all over Russia gathered for three days, taking part in sports while meeting new friends and getting new culture experience of different Russian towns. Our contingent made all their best in the respective games, but lack of experience cost us victories. Made up of almost 60 first and second year students, MSMU team sat the last place among all competing universities with only 5 silver and one bronze medals.

Malaysian team is thankful to the Dean’s office for international students for support throughout the preparation and the whole Games itself. We believe with proper training and more efforts we will do a better job next year, claiming back all the gold we lost now.

Go MSMU, together we move forward in sports!
